8. 1870 – Baron Hermann von Pillersdorf
He was born in 1817 and owned a great deal of property and land in Moravia and Austrian Silesia. He was a graduate of the Collegium Theresianum in Vienna. In 1850 he was nominated Starosta of Brno, and from 1854 he was a deputy in the Provincial Council of Moravia and head of the Trenčin District. In the years 1862-1870 he was the National President of Austrian Silesia. He was later a member of the State Council in the Viennese Parliament. He died in 1887.
He was ostentatiously awarded the title by the Cieszyn authorities on 22 September 1870 after his dismissal – for his “too” Liberal views – from the position of President of Austrian Silesia by minister Potocki during the period of Hohenwart’s governments. It was a gesture of support for von Pillersdorf’s Liberal politics by the Cieszyn authorities.
