This is a publicly funded body and functions on the basis of Cieszyn City Council’s resolution no. XIX/179/99 of December 16th 1999.
The Municipal Sport and Recreation Centre’s area of operation is the city of Cieszyn.
The Municipal Sport and Recreation centre was founded with the following aims:
1) To satisfy the needs of the inhabitants in the fields of physical culture, sport and tourism
2) To maintain, operate and supervise the functioning of sports and recreation facilities transferred by the municipality for administration
3) To initiate, organise, co-ordinate and propagate activities in the fields of physical culture, sport and tourism in the city
4) To carry out a co-operation programme with non-governmental organisations in the fields of physical culture, sport and tourism
The MSRC’s tasks include:
1. Administrating the municipal sports and recreation facilities: the sports complex at 21, Łyska Alley; the Pod Wałką playing field: the sports pavilion on Sarkandra Street.
2. Equipping the facilities with sports and recreational apparatus
3. Conducting economic activities with the intention of raising funds to carry out its statutory tasks
4. Organising sporting and recreational events, amateur basketball, volleyball and football leagues, regular sporting and recreational events within national physical activity schemes (“Get Your Heart On Its Feet”, “Run For Health”) which take place in premises managed by the MSRC, making the facilities available to school-age youth and organised groups.
