The oldest electric lighting
in Cieszyn is connected with the II Silesian Exhibition of Industrial and Agricultural Products which took place in 1880, during which the electricity was used, for the first time, to illuminate the exhibition pavilions. Despite the fact that this created a lot of problems for the organizers, because this most recent invention broke down continuously, it was from that time that the electric light was gradually made use of, at first in the archducal dairy and Prochaska’s printing-firm. In 1908-1910 the first power station was built.
