The Coinage of Historical Cieszyn
On 2nd September 2005, the National Bank of Poland launched a new series of 2 zloty coins entitled Historical Towns in Poland and struck in Nordic Gold. thirty two coins will be put into circulation by the National Bank of Poland until April 2008 in the series commemorating towns with a history of over 500 years which have significantly contributed to the developnemt of particular regions and statehood in Poland. the choice of towns was made by a team of historicans appointed by the board of the National Bank of Poland and headed by Prof. Henryk Samsonowicz. This publication, dedicated to the historical coins of Cieszyn, was publisched to accompany the special issue of a coin bearing a view of Cieszyn's oldest historic building - the Ronanescqe Rotunda of St. Nicholas Wenceslac.
