The Liburnia Park
Just like some other Cieszyn parks, this park was created on the grounds of a former cemetery the one situated by St. George’s church. A few old tombstones that have remained can only be found either within a small fenced area that directly adjoins the church or at the rim of today’s park, from św. Jerzego Street.
The avenue arrangement of the trees, especially in its east part, as well as clearly accentuated ( with paths) sections in the shapes of rectangles and triangles, indicate the former function of the grounds as a cemetery. The stand of trees is not particularly diversified with respect to species makeup or age. It is composed mainly of maple-trees (Acer platanoides), lime-trees (Tilia plytyphyllos), and also ash-trees (Fraxinus excelsior), horse-chestnuts (Aesculus hippocastanum) and a few other species.
