Parks
On Castle Hill
The Park on Castle Hill is one of the most valuable parks in Cieszyn. The beginnings of today’s layout should be related to the rebuilding of the castle in 1830-1860.
The Liburnia Park
Just like some other Cieszyn parks, this park was created on the grounds of a former cemetery the one situated by St. George’s church. A few old tombstones that have remained can only be found either within a small fenced area that directly adjoins the church or at the rim of today’s park, from św. Jerzego Street.
The Holy Trinity Park
The area of today’s park was used as a cemetery from the end of the XVIth century to the XIXth century.
The Peace Park
The Peace Park adjoins the building of the Cieszyn Museum located in the former palace (from the end of the XVIIIth cent.) of Earl Jan Larisch.
The Church Park
The Church Park was built at the end of the XIXth century in the place where, in the years 1709-1887 a cemetery belonging to the Protestant parish functioned.
The Hospital Park
In 1888-1892 a hospital was built with the funds from the Protestant community. It took the form of a few pavillions surrounded by a park with many interesting specimens of trees and bushes.
The Pod Wałką Park
The park comes from the second half of the XIXth century. Now it has a woodland park character. The “Pod Wałką” Park, together with the areas belonging to Lasek Miejski nad Puńcówką (The Communal woodland on the Puńcówka, a reserve) and “Lasek Miejski nad Olzą”(the Communal woodland on the Olza”, a reserve as well) which is situated a little further to the south, constitute the largest area of greenery in Cieszyn.
The Park of Mieszko Ist
The park came into being at the beginning of the XXth century.
